2009 Construction and Planning Projects 

 

Casement Road North - The north end of Casement Road is being relocated to the East to a new intersection with US-20 due to the flood in 2006 eroding the slope between the Grand River and the road.  Work will be in cooperation with planned development.  Construction is currently planned to begin in the summer of 2008 and be completed in the Fall of 2009.

SR44 Concord Transportation Study (Planning)- Transportation improvements necessary to reduce congestion at SR 44 / 90 Interchange;  increase accessibility to and from SR 44 / 90 Interchange;  maximize access to the proposed Lake Hospital campus;  build upon the findings of the Concord Township Business Corridor Study.  Planning Study Cost:  $ 170,000.  

Vrooman Road Bridge Replacement (Planning) – Frequently flooded and aged bridge requires replacement with a high level structure to meet environmental and FHWA criteria.  Preliminary engineering contract is pending ODOT and local approvals.  Project Costs:  $ 22 M.

River Road Safety Improvement  -  Project consists of improving vertical sight distance by cutting crests and reconstructing portions of the road with wider pavement.  The project is located in Perry Township and begins near the YMCA driveway and continues east for approximately 1500'.  The work will suspend for 1500' then resume for another 4000' where improvements will include some waterline replacement. Work will be completed in 2009 with a detour in place.  Project Cost:  $1,300,000

Manchester Road Bridge Painting  -  This project consists of  painting the steel beams on the ridge located in Perry Village.  The work will extend the life of the bridge and improve its appearance.  The project is planned for 2009 with traffic maintained.  Project Cost:  $25,000

Fairgrounds Road - Federal Stimulus Project  -  Fairgrounds Road has been approved for Federal Stimulus Funding.  The funding is through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) and was programmed by the Northeast Ohio Areawide Coordinating Agency (NOACA).  The project is planned to reconstruct Fairgrounds Road from the South end at SR84 to Woodland Road across from the Fairgrounds.  The intersection at SR84 will also be improved with left turn lanes being added to SR84 and Fairgrounds Road.  The project has an estimated construction cost of $3,274,000 with 100% ARRA funding.  Work is scheduled to begin in the spring of 2010.  Please contact the lLake County Engineer's office if you have any questions or would like to provide any comments.

Melridge Road Culvert – Work is scheduled to begin in the spring of 2010.
